RAKERENCRYPTED BACKUP

PRIVATE BACKUP CONNECTION

A separate copy.
A way to recover.

RAKER Encrypted Backup is an owner-operated utility for saving encrypted factory application backups to an authorised Google Drive account.

This website explains that connection and how it handles Google data. Access to backup files is controlled through the Google account that authorises the connection.

HOW THE CONNECTION WORKS

From a local backup to a recovery copy

  1. Create and encrypt

The factory application creates an encrypted backup on its computer before upload.

  2. Copy to Google Drive

Rclone transfers the encrypted backup into the Google Drive account authorised by the operator.

  3. Download and restore

The operator can download a backup for a recovery test or restoration. The separately held backup passphrase is required to decrypt it.

Limited Google Drive permission

The connection requests drive.file access: it can create backup files and access files associated with this connection. It does not request access to all existing files in the account.

The backup decryption passphrase is kept separately from the Google Drive backup copies.
